1964 - The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand” reached No. 1 in the UK and Australia.

1969 - Marvin Gaye earned a No. 1 hit with his classic, “I Heard It Thru The Grapevine.”

1971 - George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” reached No. 1 on the US charts.

1973 - Mick Jagger was turned down for a visa by the Japanese government because of a drug arrest in 1969. The Stones were forced to cancel their Asian tour. In response, Jagger told a reporter, “I don’t take drugs. I don’t approve of drugs and I don’t approve of people taking drugs, unless they’re very careful.”

1976 - Queen earned a No. 1 hit in the UK with the Freddy Mercury swansong, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

1984 - Van Halen released their album 1984
