1964 - The Beatles were played for the first time in the US when Jack Paar screened footage of the band playing “She Loves You” on his TV show.
1967 - After he received a draft notice from the army, The Beach Boys’ Carl Wilson refused to be sworn in, stating that he is a conscientious objector.
1970 - B.J. Thomas scored a No. 1 hit with “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.” The song found more fans when it appeared in the Paul Newman film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
1974 - Bob Dylan and The Band kicked off a lengthy 39-date tour in Chicago.
